In Search of Infinity
Published in Hardcover by Springer Verlag (August, 1995)
Authors: N. Ya. Vilenkin, Abe Shenitzer, Hardy Grant, and Stefan Mykytiuk
Average review score:

Great book for everybody (about Russian edition).
Everybody who has some interest to mathematics can understand this remarkable book. I was 17 when I read it first time. Now I have PhD in mathematics and often use examples from the book for my students and my children. Some things seem to be impossible (the curve covering a square, ...) but after reading this book one can feel it, not only understand.

It's moments like these
Published in Unknown Binding by Gold Star Publications ()
Author: Frank J. Hardy
Average review score:

MEMORIES OF THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN DEPRESSION
The name of the book is taken from a story where a small group of hungry, dispirited unemployed men travel to Melbourne to go to a union meeting. Sneaking a lift on a freight train they find that the only goods in their carriage is a large quantity of Nuttall's Mintoes (slogan: Its moments like these...). They eat as many as they can and also fill their pockets, hats etc with handfuls. Later in the story when they are arrested and made to turn out their pockets - well, you'll have to read it.

Set in the Great Depression of the 30s, this book of short stories tells of the Author's formative years in a small Australian town. As he finishes his schooling and starts to hang out with the local characters, a rich and darkly humurous sub-culture of those fighting to keep body and soul together is revealed. Containing many sad details of their lives, and many poignant moments, it still moves along with a gentle irony which both pleases and warms.

LA Noche Del Hombre Lobo/the Night of the Wolf-Man (Misterios De Los Hardy Boys/the Hardy Boys' Mysteries)
Published in Paperback by Fernandez USA Pub Co (October, 1993)
Author: Franklin W. Dixon

Hardy Boys in Spanish! Awesome!
This is another awesome Hardy Boys story, in which the Hardys tackle a case with a werewolf in it. It's really cool how they find out what's going on, and why things are happening. I don't want to give away the story, but if you want a neat story about the supernatural, and you happen to read Spanish, give this book a try!

The Laurel & Hardy Encyclopedia
Published in Paperback by Trafalgar Square (June, 1903)
Author: Glenn Mitchell
Average review score:

L&H Encyclopedia a must-own
This is a gold mine of information, much of which is not going to be found elsewhere easily, if at all. Glenn Mitchell has done a thorough job of researching his subjects, and it shows. Clearly, he enjoys The Boys as well, since a noticeable amount of wit and humor add to the fun of reading the book. Incidentally, it's virtually im possible ("I have just two words...") to read the book in sequence; the cross references just go on and on. All in all, it's a most worthy companion to Randy Skretvedt's "Laurel and Hardy: the Magic Behind the Movies".

Learn Library of Congress Classification
Published in Textbook Binding by Scarecrow Press (22 December, 1999)
Authors: Helena Dittmann and Jane Hardy
Average review score:

An excellent working tool
This book is an excellent tool for library students or new staff in a library that uses LCC.

It systematically goes through the different facets of classification in LC, covering the features, structure, building a call no., using different types of tables, how to shelve it, and has a short section on the "Classification Plus" program. Each section has many practice exercises (answers in the back of the book) to cover all possible things that you might come accross in the real world.

The authors are well qualified to produce this workbook - Helena Dittmann was the head of the University of Canberra cataloguing department for many years, and Jane Hardy also has much experience with LCC. Both authors have a background in training.

I would highly recommend this book a a text for library courses and as a working tool.
